However, this episode highlights some poor audio symptoms. First, there is a noticeable contrast in audio quality between the commercial advertisements in the beginning of the episode and the content of the podcast. While, this alone is not an indicator of technical mistakes made by the producer, it is not always favorable to the host (these commercials change every few days, so you may not hear the same one I heard).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, the audio throughout this episode cuts in and out. After listening to the episode multiple times on different devices and on different platforms, it is clear that this is a problem with the audio recording itself. I think that this type of glitch can come from corruption in an editing\/recording software or from using faulty\/damaged wiring. A similar type of sound can also be created from the rustling of a lavalier microphone in clothing. However, the capturing of slight background noise where it sounded like something was dropped lead me to believe that this issue did not come from a lavalier microphone which probably would not have picked up such a distant sound if it were far away or would have produced a larger audio disturbance if it were close to the persons body where the microphone would be located. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also determined that the cutting in and out that I hear is not the result of \u201cclipping\u201d. The audio cutting out does not occur at the same times that one might expect an increase in volume or sudden change of voice. This issue distracted from an otherwise really great and inspiring podcast. While we are able to psychologically complete sentences and fill in gaps, this issue makes it difficult to understand and produced more <em>work<\/em> for the listener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this hiccup, Real Ass Affirmations usually provides great audio and exceptional content. It is important to note that this episode does not exceed 10 minutes. This is a positive aspect of the podcast because it aligns with the purpose of the content (short affirmations) and it also aligns with media research about the optimal lengths of audio that can capture and hold a listener\u2019s attention. I think that podcasting in the modern digital age is a great example of how generally anyone can be an audio producer. It is also a reminder of how audio production has been isolated from specific locations. In other words, this podcast could have been recorded from almost anywhere.
