Lofi (low-fidelity) hip hop gained popularity in the 2010s and lofi livestreams became popular in 2020. Lofi is a type of downtempo music which combines hip hop and chill music. Most lofi songs use simple and repetitive beats since lofi originated with the popularity of samplers. Additionally, in the early 2000s samplers began featuring a separate lofi button so artist could easily get the effect and unique sound.
