As we get closer and closer to the Master golf tournament, the smooth calming tone of “Augusta” continues to play. The song was made by Dave Loggins, 3rd cousin of Kenny Loggins (famously known for another song used in a golf environment, the movie Caddyshack) The song was written after Dave made his first trip to the golf tournament in northern Georgia where he met a CBS executive who asked if he could write and compose a song for the broadcast which he obliged. The song he wrote was called “Augusta” which was accompanied by lyrics and composed by himself. The song was purchased by CBS but not for very much especially for how much it is used today, but whenever the tv is turned on or the Masters advertisements start playing just know that Dave Loggins more well known because of his cousin was the writer and the creator of one of the best known songs for the best major in professional golf.
