Seinfeld Theme

The theme for the hit TV Sitcom Seinfeld was created by composer Jonathan Wolff. Wolff has created music for over 75 other television series, like Will & Grace, but nothing sticks to our minds quite like our beloved Seinfeld melody. Seinfeld ran from 1989 to 1998, and it’s theme song is very unique for the time, as jazzy intros were the usual.

This music really captures the overall mood and tone for the sitcom. The track features many unique sounds, such as lip popping and finger snaps. Wolff describes these and other noises used as “organic human sounds”. Its upbeat, fun and funky instrumental iconic bass noise is actually created by a synthesizer, contrary to popular belief. A fun fact that may not be noticeable to non-Seinfeld binge watchers is that each week opened with a different rendition of the theme, created by Wolff himself. This was to fit Jerry’s differing opening stand up that he performs on stage beginning each episode.
