I love listening to instrumental music. Usually, I have more acute sensibilities for music without lyrics than with lyrics. Maybe it’s because instrumental music stimulates us to think, imagine, create, and discover ourselves more. Instrumental music also comes in a variety of genres, and I especially enjoy listening to epic, classical, symphonic, meditative, or traditional genres. I love the sound of them and I feel there is a special connection between my spirit and these kinds of genres. Significantly, these genres are highly soul-healing. Whenever I’m in a bad mood, I’ll turn on instrumental music and then look deeply into my own inner world. Gradually, I found myself again through such songs. Therefore, instrumental music is indispensable in my life, like a spiritual food with rich and complete nutrients.
Below is one of my favorite inspirational epic songs. It’s a Chinese song – “The Knight” by Tony Chen. I love traditional Chinese culture very much, because its traditional musical instruments are very specific and diverse. The sound emitted from these is also beautiful, melancholy and mixed with the divine in it.
At the beginning of the song, the drums are both heroic and powerful. The Chinese drum heads are made from animal skin, and for some reason it makes the sound of the drums loud and echo, sounding very atmospheric. I especially like the tempo and sound effects of the drums being played throughout the song. Besides, the song also uses a choir, giving a very mighty and inspirational feeling. In addition, there are also some other sounds that I cannot identify. All contribute to creating a great and not outdated music.
Every time I listen to this song, I always feel encouraged that I need to keep moving forward no matter how hard it is. That’s a great thing a song should deliver, isn’t it?
